Your Coursework Pitch

Miss Brookes and Mrs Field will explain this further in your first few lessons, but here is what you need to know...

We need to approve your specific coursework ideas asap, because you will start writing them in a few weeks. First draft of the Critical Investigation (2000 words) due in on Friday 25th October. This shouldn't be too much of a problem, as you should have narrowed down ideas and begun research over the holidays. With this in mind, you need to prepare a 'Coursework Pitch', to present to Mrs Field and your classmates on Monday 16th September. Your pitch must also be posted on your blog. This pitch will be a presentation of your basic coursework ideas, the rationale behind what you're exploring, and some specific details. Based on this pitch, we will give you final approval, seek advice from AQA if necessary, and begin helping you to generate ideas.

Your pitch must contain:

  • A specific focus for investigation.  - 'Women' or 'music videos' is not enough - WHAT areas are you looking at? What are you exploring? Give it FOCUS.
  • At least three texts you intend to analyse
  • Some theories that you think will be applicable to your investigation
  • A few examples of research that you have already done
  • A hypothesis of what you think you will find in your investigation
  • An idea of your production piece

This can be presented in any way you want, but must be on your blog too.
